Pirate's Lantern is a Brooklyn based maker of Barbados style pepper sauce. Their small batch production made along Brooklyn's scenic waterfront, ensures only the best and freshest ingredients make it into every bottle. One particular element in their sauce is Rum, or pirate’s gold as they prefer to call it. It might not seem an obvious choice, but in their family, it’s tradition—four generations worth, to be exact. Their great grandmother, a religious woman, seeking to temper her husband’s drinking, used to sneak a bit of rum into her pepper sauce just so there’d be less going into his glass. When she discovered how it enhanced the flavours of her sauce, that rum earned a permanent place in the family recipe.
